Mission

The MISSION of the CMS is to develop innovative approaches to solving congestion problems and expand the workforce of transportation professionals by supporting curricula in a wide range of disciplines that have a bearing on the solutions to transportation problems.

To accomplish its mission, the center has defined the following GOALS:

1. Provide an interdisciplinary research and education environment for reducing congestion through enhanced multimodal connectivity
2. Develop new and effective tools and methods to model and mitigate the growing congestion problems in highways, seaports, airports and railways
3. Strengthen the collaboration between UF, FDOT, USDOT and other transportation agencies and address problems that are mutually relevant
4. Serve as the focal point for research on solving unimodal/multimodal congestion problems locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
5. Comprehensively prepare all participating students to become successful professionals in transportation (public and private sectors and in academia)
6. Disseminate research results to the transportation community
7. Recruit and retain a diverse and multicultural group of students
8. Strengthen our relationships with other University Transportation Centers (UTCs) and create opportunities for collaborative activities
